cally terms of service

Last updated: 25 October 2026

These terms apply when you use cally on Android or iPhone, or the website askcally.com. By creating an account or using cally, you agree to them. cally is provided by Elie Saade, an individual developer in the United Arab Emirates (“we”).

1. What cally is

cally helps you know what you eat. It estimates the calories and nutrients of food from a dish in a food app, a screenshot, a photo, a barcode, a label, or a meal you type or say. It keeps your food log and works out a daily plan. After a free trial, cally needs a subscription, which includes every feature, cally, your AI food coach, among them.

cally is for people aged 18 or older. By using it, you confirm that you are. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we stop it and refund the subscription where we can.

2. Your account

You sign in with Google, or on iPhone with Apple or Google. Keep access to that account safe: anyone who can sign in to it can use your cally account. You can delete your cally account at any time in the app or at askcally.com/delete. Accounts that aren’t used for 24 months and have no subscription are deleted.

3. Your subscription, the free trial and automatic renewal

3.1 What you pay

cally is sold as one subscription, monthly or yearly. The prices below are the current plan for launch:

PlanUnited Arab EmiratesUnited States
MonthlyAED 14.99 a monthUSD 4.99 a month
YearlyAED 99.99 a yearUSD 29.99 a year

The price shown in Google Play or the App Store before you buy is the one that applies. Prices include any tax the store charges.

3.2 The free trial

New subscribers can try cally free. The store’s offer sets how long the trial lasts (7 days at launch), and the app shows it before you start. A payment method is needed to start. Next to the button, cally shows exactly what happens after the trial, for example: “Free for 7 days, then AED 99.99 a year, renewing every year until you cancel in Google Play.” On iPhone it says “until you cancel in Settings”.

If you don’t cancel before the trial ends, the store charges the plan’s price and the subscription starts. On iPhone, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends (section 3.3). cally can remind you about a day before, if notifications are on; on iPhone the reminder is set for about 26 hours before the trial ends, before that 24-hour cutoff.

There is one free trial per person, across Android and iPhone. If a second Google Play trial gets through anyway, we cancel it and refund it in full, so you’re never charged for it. On iPhone, cally asks Apple to skip the trial up front, because only Apple can cancel or refund an App Store subscription.

3.3 Automatic renewal

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year, at the price you agreed to, until you cancel. The store charges your payment method at each renewal. If the price changes, the store tells you before it applies, and asks for your agreement where the law requires it.

On iPhone, the subscription renews unless you cancel in Settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and Apple charges your Apple Account within the 24 hours before it renews.

3.4 Cancelling

You can cancel any time, and you keep your subscription until the end of the period you paid for.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel the subscription. Deleting your cally account on Android also stops the Google Play renewal. On iPhone, only you can cancel an App Store subscription, so before you delete your account cally shows a button to Apple’s subscriptions page.

3.5 Refunds

Refunds go through the store you paid, under its refund policy: Google Play for Android, Apple for iPhone. On Android, we refund in full when cally refuses a service you were charged for: a second free trial, or an account that belongs to someone under 18. On iPhone, cally offers Apple’s refund request for an account that belongs to someone under 18. Deleting your account stops the next renewal but doesn’t refund the current period, unless the store or the law says otherwise.

3.6 One account, both phones

A subscription bought on one phone works on the other when you sign in with the same account.

3.7 Without a subscription

After the free trial, cally’s features need an active subscription, logging calories by hand included. You can still see, export and delete what you logged, and manage or delete your account.

4. iPhone and the App Store

If you use cally on iPhone:

5. Daily limits and fair use

The subscription has generous daily limits on AI features, like estimates, coach messages and picks. The app tells you when you’re close. We may change the limits to keep cally running fairly for everyone, and we’ll tell you in the app when we do. A safety reply never counts toward a limit.

6. Using cally fairly

Please don’t:

7. Not medical advice

cally isn’t a medical device, and it doesn’t diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.

cally’s numbers are estimates. Recipes, portions and ingredients vary, so a dish can be off by a lot. Don’t rely on cally for medical decisions, like managing diabetes, an allergy, kidney disease or an eating disorder, for pregnancy, or before or after surgery. If you have a medical condition or specific needs, talk to a doctor or a dietitian.

8. The coach

cally, your AI food coach, is software run by AI. It isn’t a person, a doctor, a dietitian or a therapist. It can be wrong. It gives its honest opinion about food when you ask, and the choice is always yours.

If a message sounds like a crisis, an eating disorder or a medical emergency, cally stops and shows a reply written by people, with helplines and the emergency number. Our crisis protocol is at askcally.com/crisis. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number: 999 in the UAE, 911 in the US.

9. Food apps, AI and food data

cally isn’t affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Talabat, Deliveroo, Careem, Noon, InstaShop, Keeta, DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, Apple, Google or any other company named in the app.

cally reads only the dishes on your screen, when you ask it to. It never connects to a food app’s servers, never signs in to them, and never scrolls, taps or orders for you.

Estimates come from AI services (Google Gemini, with OpenAI as a backup, and Deepgram for voice) and from food databases, including Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central and FatSecret. Open Food Facts data is available under the Open Database License (ODbL), and its product photos under Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike (CC BY-SA). Open Food Facts says its data is not for medical purposes, and neither is cally’s. We can’t promise that any result is accurate.

10. Your content

Your photos, screenshots, text, chats and voice clips stay yours. You let us use them to give you answers and run the features you choose, as the privacy policy describes.

A dish and its estimate may be reused so the same dish always gets the same number, with nothing about you except a scrambled code, as the privacy policy describes. If you switch on sharing fixes, you let us combine your corrections and the labels you confirm with other people’s and publish the totals in cally’s food data.

11. Our app

The cally app, its name, the cally dot, its design and content belong to us. We give you a personal and limited permission to use cally for yourself, under these terms. It isn’t exclusive, you can’t pass it on, and we can withdraw it if you break these terms. You may use your estimates for your own purposes.

12. Privacy

The privacy policy (askcally.com/privacy) explains what cally does with your data. If you live in Washington, Nevada or Connecticut, our consumer health data policy (askcally.com/consumer-health-data) also applies. Both are part of these terms.

13. Changes and ending

We may change, pause or stop a feature. If we stop the subscription, we’ll tell you in the app and the store will stop the renewals.

You can stop using cally at any time by deleting your account or uninstalling it. To stop a subscription, cancel it as in section 3.4. We may suspend or end your account if you break these terms or put cally or other people at risk.

14. Disclaimers and limits

As far as the law allows:

Some places don’t allow these limits, so they apply only as far as your local law allows. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be waived.

15. Indemnity

If you use cally in a way that breaks these terms or the law, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top, and for important changes we’ll tell you in the app at least 14 days before they apply. If you keep using cally after that, the new terms apply. A change to the price of your subscription follows section 3.3.

17. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Disputes go to the courts of Dubai, unless the consumer laws where you live give you the right to use your local courts.
