Where do cally’s numbers come from?

From your photo, the words you type or the label you scan. A quiet line under each number says which.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On Android, in Google Play, under Payments and subscriptions. On iPhone, in Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Your log stays yours after you cancel.

How do I delete my data?

In You, under Privacy choices. You can also ask for your account to be deleted on askcally.com/delete.

Why does cally ask about health details?

Some, like pregnancy or a GLP-1 medicine, change your plan. cally keeps them only if you agree.

Logging food

How do I log a meal?

Tap Log. Snap it estimates from a photo, Type it from your words and Say it from your voice. You can also scan a barcode or search for a food. Your foods keeps what you log often, so you can log it again in one tap.

Can I fix a number?

Yes. Open the entry from Today and change it.

Why does cally sometimes ask me a question?

When one answer would change a number a lot, like whether a dish is shared, cally asks you one short question instead of guessing.

What can I do without a subscription?

After the free trial, logging food needs a cally subscription, logging by hand included. What you’ve logged stays yours: you can still see it, download it and delete it, and your account and settings stay open.

How accurate is cally?

cally’s numbers are estimates. You can always change one in its entry.

Your subscription and the free trial

How does the free trial work?

Start your free trial in the app. It starts in Google Play or the App Store, which needs a payment method. Before you start, cally shows what happens when the trial ends. If you don’t cancel before the trial ends, the plan you picked starts. On iPhone, cancel in the store before the trial ends.

Can I have the trial again?

There is one free trial per person, across Android and iPhone.

Does deleting the app cancel my subscription?

No. Cancel in Google Play or in your iPhone’s Settings. Deleting your cally account on Android also stops the Google Play renewal. On iPhone, cally shows a button to Apple’s subscriptions page before you delete your account, because only you can cancel there.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds go through the store you paid: Google Play for Android, Apple for iPhone. For a charge you don’t recognise, write to support@askcally.com.

Does my subscription work on my other phone?

Yes. A subscription bought on one phone works on the other when you sign in with the same account.

Your account and your data

How do I sign in?

With your Google account. On iPhone you can also use Sign in with Apple.

Where is my log kept?

On your phone, with your coach chats. If you choose, a copy is kept in your account, so they stay in step on your phones. You can change this in Privacy choices.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, in You, under Privacy choices or Account, tap Delete account. It needs a fresh sign-in. Without the app, go to askcally.com/delete and sign in with the same Google account. If you use Sign in with Apple, delete in the app or write to us.

Can I get a copy of my data?

Yes. In You, under Privacy choices, Download my data makes a file you can send where you like.

How do I switch something off?

Each choice, like keeping health details or what cally remembers, is in Privacy choices, and is as easy to switch off as on. The privacy policy has the details.

The cally dot

What does the dot do on Android?

The dot sits beside the food apps you use. When you tap it on a dish, cally reads that dish and works out its calories. Tap Show picks and it reads the dishes on your screen. While a food app is open, cally checks on your phone what kind of page you’re on, so the dot can help or step aside, and keeps nothing from that check. It never reads other apps, messages or passwords, and never taps or types for you.

What does the dot need?

Android’s accessibility setting for cally, permission to show over other apps and usage access. cally explains each one before you switch it on. You can pause or hide the dot in cally.

And on iPhone?

The dot lives in the Dynamic Island while a food app is open. cally reads nothing on your screen unless you run the cally shortcut, with Back Tap or the Action Button.

Health Connect and Apple Health

Does cally use Health Connect or Apple Health?

Only if you switch it on in cally, and it asks for each kind of data separately. cally can write the meals you log, and read things like your steps to show on Today.

Languages, units and more

Does cally work in Arabic?

Yes. The whole app works in English and Arabic.

Can I change units?

Yes, in You, under Units and region.

Is cally a dietitian?

No. cally is an AI food coach. For questions about a medicine or a health condition, talk to your doctor.
